A Helmholtz spin-off solving the blind spot of particle therapy.
Particle therapy delivers its maximum dose exactly at the tumor and stops. But today's standard of care relies on X-ray or CT image guidance, offering poor soft-tissue contrast and no information on tumor motion.
If you cannot see and track the tumor, you cannot hit it precisely. The result: large safety margins, long treatment courses and many indications that stay untreated.
Beamrion closes that gap with in-beam magnetic resonance imaging — born from years of research at the Helmholtz association and OncoRay — National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology.
